Special considerations for: Large Format Printing
- Signage - Print
On Demand
Artwork should be submitted in the most appropriate form for the medium
on which it is to be reproduced (see above). Consider the relationship
between quality and scale - if you are submitting logo artwork for a 2
metre sign, a 2 centimetre image designed to be displayed on the internet
will be too small. Our general requirements for different types of file
format are as follows:
Quark XPress Files - Print on Demand,
Business Stationery etc. |
When submitting Quark files, all fonts and
bitmapped images need to be included on your disc or in your folder.
We can use Quark files up to version 4.0. Macintosh Format
Only.
- When submitting artwork for Litho Printing,
images included with your Quark layout need to be 240-300
dpi.
- When submitting artwork for our 'Print On Demand'
service, please follow these guidelines.
|
Adobe Illustrator Files - Plot-Cut Graphics,
Transfers, Large Format etc. |
Please convert all fonts to 'Outlines' and
make sure that any images are embedded. We can read Illustrator
files up to version 10. Macintosh Format Only |
Macromedia Freehand Files - Plot-Cut Graphics,
Transfers, Large Format etc. |
We can read Freehand files up to version 10.
Please convert all fonts to 'Paths' and make sure that any images
are embedded. Macintosh Format Only |
PDF Files - Print on Demand, Business
Stationery etc. |
When Creating PDF, or Portable
Document Format files, please follow these guidelines:
- Generate files using Adobe Acrobat Distiller
- 'PDF Writer' is not suitable for creating PDF files for imaging.
- Use the latest version of Adobe's printer drivers, available
FREE at adobe.com.
- Use the Acrobat Distiller PPD file located in the Xtras folder
in the Distiller folder in Acrobat 4.
- Embed all fonts in the Postcript file - this ensures that Distiller
uses exactly the same fonts that were used for creating the layout.
- Use the 'Print' settings for artwork submission.
- Use the 'Screen' settings for sending us your 'Proof'.
|
EPS Files - Large Format, Print + Contour-Cut
etc. |
EPS, or Embedded PostScript
files can be either rastered images or vector graphics, or a combination
of both. If you are submitting a file for a Vinyl Print + Contour-Cut,
please look carefully at the specific submission
guidelines. |
TIFF Files - Print on Demand, Large Format,
Small Logo files etc. |
Tagged Image File Format,
or TIFF files are for rastered graphics or photographs.
They can be embedded in EPS files and used in Quark XPress documents.
They retain their good quality when compressed. |
Text Files - Ad copy, Text for Website
etc. |
If you are sending unformatted copy, we can
usually work with any mainstream text file (eg. .doc). If you are
submitting formatted text, we prefer Rich Text Format
files (.rtf) and can work with Microsoft Word files
(.doc).
If you are sending copy to be used in a website, plain
text (.txt) files are preferable, although we are able
to convert a formatted document. |
